Sacramento Cabinets and Countertops

It depends on scope, and anyone who quotes you off a photo is guessing. What we can promise is how the number is arrived at: we come to the house, measure the room that exists, look at the cabinets, the sink and the plumbing, and put a written price in front of you before anything is ordered.

The scope you choose moves the number more than anything else. Replacing countertops on cabinets you keep is a different order of cost from taking a kitchen back to the studs, and there are four or five useful stops in between. The estimate is free and it commits you to nothing.

It tracks the scope, not the calendar. Countertops on cabinets you keep are two to three days on site. A vanity and top is often a single day. Refacing runs about a week. A wet-area bathroom rebuild is one to two weeks, a cosmetic kitchen refresh two to three, and a full remodel four to six.

Most of the waiting on a bigger job is not labour — it is cabinet lead time and fabrication. Stone cannot be templated until the cabinets are standing, because a drawing is not a measurement. After the home visit you get install dates rather than a season.

For a countertop replacement, mostly yes — the cabinets stay, and the room is out of use for the two or three days the old tops come off and the new stone goes on. Cabinet refacing is similar: the boxes stay in place and the kitchen is usable for most of the week.

A full remodel is different. The kitchen is genuinely out of commission while cabinets and stone go in, which is part of why we give you install dates rather than a vague window. People usually set up a temporary sink and microwave somewhere else in the house for that stretch.

The short version: quartz is engineered, non-porous and never needs sealing, which is where most kitchens end up. Granite is natural stone, so no two slabs are alike, and it gets sealed when we install it. Marble, quartzite and soapstone are chosen for veining and character — marble etches and takes on a patina rather than staying new. Porcelain and sintered stone are thin, heat-resistant and UV-stable, which makes them the outdoor-kitchen answer.

Nobody should pick off a website thumbnail. Bring a photo of the room to the estimate and we will narrow it down on site, then you approve the actual slab before anything is cut.

Cosmetic work generally does not. Replacing countertops, refacing cabinets, swapping a vanity or retiling a shower in the same footprint are not the kind of changes that pull a permit.

Moving walls, relocating plumbing or reworking electrical is a different conversation, and so is anything structural. We tell you which side of that line your project falls on at the estimate, in writing, rather than after demolition when it becomes a change order.

Yes — that is refacing, and it is often the right call. If the boxes are solid and the layout works, replacing the whole run is an expensive way to change a colour. Refacing puts new doors, new drawer fronts, matching veneer across the frames and new hardware on what you already have, usually in under a week.

If the boxes are failing or the layout is the actual problem, we will say so at the measurement rather than sell you doors that sit on a kitchen you still do not like.

Yes. OTG Construction is a licensed California contractor, CSLB #1012429, and carries insurance. The number is worth checking — you can look it up on the CSLB site before you sign anything, and you should do that with any contractor who quotes your job.

No, and it matters that we say so plainly. Cabinets are built to OTG's drawings by our manufacturing partners, and countertop fabrication runs through the fabricators we work with.

What is ours is the design, the material sourcing, the measuring and seam decisions, the project management and the installation — including the complicated installs many crews turn down. Cabinet refacing, refinishing and painting are also our own work, done in your house.
