OTG's shop sits on Roseville Road, the road that runs down Antelope's eastern edge — 6.8 miles, about twelve minutes from Antelope Meadows. We are licensed (CSLB #1012429) and insured, and the crew that turns up is ours, not a sub hired for the week. Estimates are free, measured in your kitchen, and written down before anything is ordered.
What can OTG do in an Antelope house?
Six, and most Antelope houses need two or three of them:
- Kitchen remodeling — layout, cabinets, counters and install by one team. Four to six weeks for a full kitchen.
- Bathroom remodeling — from a vanity swap to a wet-area rebuild of the hall tub alcove, one to two weeks.
- Cabinets — built to your wall dimensions by our manufacturing partners, installed by our crew.
- Countertops — quartz, granite, porcelain and natural stone, templated on site and fabricated by our partners.
- Cabinet refacing — new doors, fronts and finish on boxes that are still sound. About a week, done in place.
- Countertop replacement — keep the cabinets, change the tops. Two to three days on site once the slab is cut.
What is different about remodeling a nineties tract house?
Antelope built out as a planned community from the late 1980s, so the stock is unusually consistent: Antelope Meadows recorded 1991 to 1993, Antelope Village 1994 to 1996, then Antelope Trails from 2002 to 2007 and Elverta Park from 2017 to 2019. The early-nineties plans run roughly 1,100 to 2,000 square feet with three or four bedrooms, builder-grade cabinets, tract-standard countertop runs, a hall bath on a standard tub alcove and a shallow primary vanity.
That consistency cuts both ways. Templating is quick and slab usage is predictable, because the runs were drawn on stock dimensions. But those houses have now crossed thirty years, which is exactly where builder-grade materials specified to hit a price at closing start to fail — doors that will not stay adjusted, drawer hardware past saving, a swollen sink base. The upside is that this is usually the house's first remodel: no layers of earlier work to peel back, original plans that are easy to read, and few surprises behind the drywall.
How does slab-on-grade construction affect the work?
More than anything else on this list. Nineties Antelope tracts are built on slab, so the drain and supply lines run in the concrete rather than under a floor you can crawl into. Keep the sink, the range and the toilet where the builder put them and the job stays clean and predictable. Move them and someone is cutting and trenching concrete, which is real money and real days — and it is the single decision that most often separates a kitchen that comes in at estimate from one that does not.
This is why we measure before we price, and why we will tell you when a layout change is not worth what it costs. Plenty of Antelope kitchens get everything they wanted — a working island, better storage, a wall opened to the family room — without touching a single drain.
Do I need a permit in Antelope, and who issues it?
Antelope is unincorporated, so permits come from the Sacramento County building department, not a city office. As a rule: swapping cabinets, counters, fixtures and finishes in place does not need one; moving plumbing, gas or electrical does. When a permit applies, OTG pulls it and builds the inspections into the schedule. That is part of the job, not a line item that appears later.
Should I reface my cabinets or replace them?
It depends on the boxes, not the doors. Open a door and look at the box itself — is it square, dry, and solid where it meets the floor and the wall?
- Sound boxes, layout you can live with → reface. New doors, drawer fronts, finish and hardware, about a week by our crew, and the money you save goes to countertops and the baths.
- Swollen at the sink base, sagging shelves, or a layout that never worked → replace, with cabinets built to our specification and sized to your actual walls.
Thirty-year-old builder-grade genuinely falls on both sides of that line, which is why nobody should price this over the phone. The inspection takes a few minutes during the estimate visit, and where both paths are viable we quote both, with separate numbers, and say plainly which one we would choose.
What does hard water do to a new bath or kitchen?
Sacramento County water runs hard, and it shows up first on fixtures and glass. It does not change what we build, but it changes what we would specify: a quartz top rather than a marble one where the sink gets heavy daily use, and coated or brushed finishes on faucets and shower hardware in place of polished ones that show every deposit. Frameless glass in a new shower wants a treatment and a squeegee habit — worth knowing before you choose it, not after.
Where in Antelope do you work?
All of them. Most of our work lands in Antelope Meadows and Antelope Village, the early-nineties tracts now taking their first remodel, along with Antelope Trails and Elverta Park. Antelope runs from the Placer County line south to Antelope Road, with Roseville Road along its eastern side — which is where our shop is, so a measure visit here is a twelve-minute drive rather than a scheduling problem.
Nearby, we work the same way in Citrus Heights, Rio Linda, North Highlands and Roseville.
Working with OTG from Antelope
Every project runs in the same order. A free written estimate comes first — nothing is priced sight unseen. Then a signed scope, cabinets ordered to specification, demolition and installation, and countertop templating only after the cabinets are set, with the stone installed on a later visit once fabrication is done. That split is deliberate: counters templated from installed cabinets fit the kitchen you have, not the drawing. On jobs that run into weeks, the same crew is in your house daily from start to finish.
