Guest Bath & Powder Room

The smallest room in the house, finished properly — often the fastest and cheapest remodel you can buy.

A powder room is the room every visitor uses and the one most houses never update. It is also the least expensive remodel we sell — small floor area, one fixture wall, no shower to waterproof — which makes it the easiest place to try a finish you would not commit to across a whole kitchen.

Powder room, no shower

Usually a day or three of work: new vanity and stone top, faucet, toilet, mirror, lighting, floor tile, and paint. Because there is no wet area, none of the waterproofing sequence applies, and the room can be finished in one visit where the plumbing cooperates.

This is the room to be bold in. A dark paint, a patterned floor tile, a vessel sink on a floating vanity — it is thirty square feet, so a strong choice costs very little and the room is the one guests remember.

Guest bath, with a tub or shower

A full guest bath is a bigger job because the wet area comes with it: waterproofing, tile, glass and a properly sloped pan. That work is the same as any wet-area remodel — one to two weeks, and worth doing right, because the wet wall is where a bathroom fails.

Common versions we build:

  • Tub kept and retiled, vanity and floor replaced
  • Tub-to-shower conversion, where the household has a tub elsewhere
  • Vanity and top only, if the wet area is sound — a one-day job

Small rooms, specific constraints

Clearances rule: the door swing, the space in front of the toilet, and how far the vanity can project before the room stops working. A narrower vanity with drawers usually beats a wider one with doors. Where the room has no window, the fan and the lighting matter more than in any other bathroom.

We measure, tell you which of the three scopes the room actually needs, and put the price in writing before anything is ordered.

Start smaller if you want

Every job on the ladder stands on its own

Nobody has to start with a full remodel. Each rung below is a complete job we quote on its own — plenty of people do one, live with it, then call back about the next.
